Town manager Joe Royle says that trialist Mark Rivers will win a contract with the Blues if he does well on this week's tour of Denmark. The 20-man Town squad left Heathrow for Scandinavia this lunchtime.

Town face another season of First Division football after losing the second leg of their play-off semi-final against West Ham 2-0 and 2-1 overall. The Blues defended staunchly for 50 minutes but then goals from Matthew Etherington and Christian Dailly saw the Hammers to a Cardiff play-off final.

A second half Darren Bent goal gave Town their first ever play-off semi-final first leg win, against West Ham at Portman Road. The Blues had much the better of the game and will be confident going into Tuesday's second leg at Upton Park.

Town finally confirmed their place in the play-offs via a 1-1 draw with Cardiff. The Blues had to rely on results elsewhere and were helped by Palace's loss at Coventry and West Ham's draw with Wigan. Town now face the Hammers in the two-leg semi-final.

Former Town striker David Johnson scored twice as his Nottingham Forest side beat the Blues 2-1 and prevented Joe Royle's side from cementing their play-off place. Johnson netted in each half with Dean Bowditch scoring an equaliser for Town in the first period.

Town supersub Martijn Reuser says he will be looking for another club in the summer. The Dutchman says he wants to start matches, something which he sees as unlikely at Portman Road.

Two second half goals in five minutes from Martijn Reuser and Darren Bent saw Town come from behind to beat Gillingham 2-1 at the Priestfield Stadium. Early in the first period John Hills had put the home side in the lead from the spot in a game played in blustery conditions on a bumpy pitch.
